Hey there, I'm Meg.
I’m small batch potter and creative based out of southeastern CT. During the week, you can find me at my full time gig - I’m a high school art teacher in my 13th year.
Pots and Pigment first came to life on instagram, when I wanted a space to document my 2d and 3d pieces. For me, the phrase Pots and Pigment alludes to earth and ink, mud and color, all things I use and enjoy while making my work.
Recently, inspiration stems from fungi and flora that take over a space when lively things are gone, and how in time, that space fills with life again. From moss to mushrooms, moths to moon phases - I am drawn to beautifully common things that are underfoot, or overhead. Above all, I love creating forms that are pushed, carved, and modified - I enjoy playing with the silhouettes and surfaces of my pieces.
While clay is my first love and my main medium, I also enjoy printmaking, textiles, watercolor, pen and ink… the list goes on! My moth prints evolve into sgrafitto stoneware wall hangings, drawings with flowing lines translate to texture on carved mugs. It’s all clay and ink, mud and color, and it all ties back to Pots and Pigment.
Welcome to this space, I’m glad you’re here!
